Aamir Khan’s upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par is scheduled for release on June 20. Aamir has been actively promoting the film, which is set to release on limited screens worldwide. However, the film has yet to receive certification from the Censor Board.

Clash Between Aamir Khan and the Censor Board

With just five days left for the release, Sitaare Zameen Par is still awaiting its censor certificate. A major disagreement has reportedly arisen between Aamir Khan and the Censor Board regarding the film. The board has recommended two major cuts, which Aamir is reportedly unwilling to make.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the film was submitted to the Censor Board a few days ago. Since then, the board has suggested significant edits. They have allegedly demanded two major cuts in the film. However, Aamir insists that the movie should be passed without any cuts. He claims that he and director R. Prasanna have created the film thoughtfully and with intention.

Aamir believes that certain dialogues and scenes make sense only when presented together and should not be removed. The specific scenes or dialogues in question have not yet been publicly revealed. Sources suggest that Aamir has not complied with the board’s directives, which is why the film has not yet received its certificate.

Aamir is now expected to meet again with the Examining Committee of the Censor Board to present his case. If the discussions go smoothly, the film may receive its certification by June 16.

Release and Advance Bookings

Once the certification issue is resolved, advance bookings for Sitaare Zameen Par will open. This isn’t the first time filmmakers have had conflicts with the Censor Board — several directors have previously criticized the board for suggesting changes that alter the original theme of their films.

Directed by R. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh and is all set for its theatrical release on June 20.
