Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par has finally received CBFC certification and is now scheduled to release on June 20 without any major controversies. Aamir had been working hard on this project for quite some time, and now the film is ready to hit the silver screen.
Aamir’s Displeasure with CBFC
Aamir Khan’s dream project Sitaare Zameen Par had been through many hurdles. After the shoot was completed and the film was submitted to the CBFC for a UA certificate, the board demanded a few cuts. Known for his thoughtful filmmaking, Aamir was reportedly unhappy with the board’s suggested edits and strongly opposed them.
Aamir stood firm on his belief that he and director R.S. Prasanna had crafted the film with deep thought and sensitivity. Despite this, the board insisted on cuts. Aamir even filed an appeal against the decision. Eventually, a compromise was reached, and after making a few changes, the film received its certification.

Four Minor Changes Approved by CBFC
The CBFC approved the film after four minor changes were made:

The word “Michael Jackson” was replaced with “Love Bird.”

The term “businesswoman” was changed to “businessperson.”

A visual reference to the lotus flower was removed.

A quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was added to the original disclaimer.
After these edits, the film was granted approval to release.
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir Khan in the lead role and is set to release on approximately 3,000 screens across India on June 20. The film will be released exclusively in theatres and will not stream on any OTT platform. Genelia Deshmukh plays the female lead opposite Aamir.
