Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar are reportedly set to collaborate with renowned Korean film producer Hyunwoo Thomas Kim on an upcoming project, according to recent reports.

Hyunwoo Thomas Kim – From Korean Cinema to the Hindi Film Industry

Korean producer Hyunwoo Thomas Kim is best known for backing successful films such as The Devotion of Suspect X and 100 Days of Suspicion. Several of his productions have already been remade in India, including Te3n and Jaane Jaan.

For the past decade, Kim has been keen to make his debut in the Hindi film industry. During this time, he has produced six feature films across Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages.

A New Project with Akshay Kumar

According to recent updates, Kim is currently planning a new project with Akshay Kumar. He revealed that Sujoy Ghosh is working on the screenplay for this upcoming film.

Kim shared,

“I called Akshay yesterday — he’s currently in London. I told him about a special film that’s being discussed widely in the industry. Sujoy Ghosh has already completed the first draft. If Akshay gives his nod, we’ll move forward with the project.”

It is yet to be confirmed whether the film will be a direct remake of a Korean original or an adaptation tailored for the Indian audience.

Potential Collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan

Kim also revealed that he has met Shah Rukh Khan and discussed the possibility of working together.

“It was Shah Rukh who first messaged me regarding a script,” Kim said.

He added that his meeting with Shah Rukh has opened doors for future collaborations.

Kim’s Thoughts on the Indian Film Industry

Kim expressed his fondness for Mumbai, saying he finds it easy to conduct business there because many people speak fluent English.

“India has a massive film market with exceptional actors and directors,” he remarked. “However, there’s a lack of strong writers. Korean writers, in my opinion, are more refined, and the Indian industry should focus on improving in this area.”
