The year 2025 marks a significant milestone as Sholay completes a remarkable 50 years since its release. To celebrate this Golden Jubilee, the makers have decided to re-release the film in theaters.
This release will feature the original version of the film along with additional footage that was not shown earlier. Scenes that were removed by the censor board at the time will now be restored and included.

Original Climax to Be Shown for the First Time

In the original climax shot for the film, Thakur was shown taking revenge on Gabbar using his spiked boots. However, the censor board had removed this sequence during the original release.
In this new theatrical re-release, audiences will finally get to watch this original ending. Along with this, the film’s sound and picture quality have been enhanced using advanced technology.

4K Release Across 1500 Screens

Sippy Films announced through their social media accounts that Sholay will be released as an uncut version. This special edition will feature 4K picture quality and Dolby sound.
The film will be released across 1,500 screens nationwide on 12 December.
