Sriram Raghavan’s war action film Ikkis was initially scheduled to release on December 25, 2025. However, the release has been postponed, and the film will now hit theaters on January 1, 2026. The decision comes due to specific strategic reasons.
Reason for Postponement
The film was ready for its December 25 release with extensive preparations. However, according to a decision by the producers at Maddock Films, the release has been pushed by six days to January 1.
The primary reason for the postponement is the ongoing massive box-office success of Dhurandhar. The film has grossed over ₹500 crore in just 16 days and continues to attract large audiences, occupying a significant number of screens. With most screens already taken by Dhurandhar, Ikkis would have faced limited availability.
Additionally, James Cameron’s Avatar 3 released on December 19 and occupied the remaining screens. To avoid clashing with these two major releases, Ikkis has been rescheduled for the first day of the new year, January 1, 2026.
Plot of the Film
Ikkis is based on the inspiring life of Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal. Young actor Agastya Nanda portrays Arun Khetrapal, while veteran actor Dharmendra plays a significant role—marking his final film before his passing.
Actor Jaideep Ahlawat appears as a Pakistani Army officer in the story.
