As Dhurandhar continues its strong run at the box office, actor Vicky Kaushal spoke to NDTV about his thoughts on patriotic films and their growing presence in Indian cinema.

Recently, Vicky Kaushal was honoured by NDTV for his outstanding performance in the film Chhaava. During the award ceremony, he was asked about the perception that patriotic films follow a repetitive formula. Responding with confidence and pride, Vicky clearly expressed his views on the subject.

Addressing the question, Vicky said,
“Patriotism is not a formula. Calling it a formula is, in a way, an insult to our country. Patriotism is part of our identity. Through cinema, sports, and literature, we will continue to express it. These mediums help us show how deeply we love the diversity of our nation.”

Dhurandhar’s Box Office Success

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar has delivered an impressive box office performance, earning approximately ₹580 crore within just 19 days of its release. The film is expected to soon surpass Chhaava, which is currently Vicky Kaushal’s most successful film of the year. Naturally, Vicky was also asked about the success of Dhurandhar during the interaction.

Chhaava Remains a Major Career Milestone

Released earlier this year, Chhaava stands as the biggest hit of Vicky Kaushal’s career and his highest-grossing film to date. Similarly, Dhurandhar has proven to be a major success for Ranveer Singh as well. These successes highlight the strong audience appeal for films based on patriotism.

Patriotism Rooted in History and Real Events

Chhaava tells the story of a historic warrior and strongly reflects the spirit of patriotism. The film powerfully portrays the sacrifice of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj for the nation and Swarajya. Dhurandhar, on the other hand, is also inspired by real-life events, adding authenticity to its narrative.

Vicky Kaushal’s Journey Through Patriotic Roles

Vicky Kaushal’s career has been significantly shaped by patriotic films. Movies such as Uri: The Surgical Strike, Sardar Udham, and Chhaava are among his most successful projects. Known for portraying patriotic characters in diverse forms, Vicky consistently delivers impactful performances, presenting every role with conviction and pride.
