After Dhurandhar, Border 2 Also Banned in Gulf Countries
according to the http://www.pinkvilla.com
Following Dhurandhar, another upcoming Hindi film, Border 2, has reportedly been banned in several Gulf countries. A few days ago, Dhurandhar also faced a similar ban, which resulted in a significant financial setback for the film.
Border 2 Faces Ban in Gulf Region
After Dhurandhar, Border 2 has now also been barred from release in Gulf countries, delivering a major blow to the film’s makers. The movie was scheduled for release in the Gulf region, but the ban is expected to cause substantial financial losses. Border 2 is set for a worldwide release on January 26, and it has already been receiving a positive response ahead of its release.
Anti-Pakistan Content Cited as Reason
According to reports from Bollywood Hungama, the primary reason behind the ban on Border 2 in Gulf countries is the film’s anti-Pakistan content. Earlier, Dhurandhar was also banned in the region for the same reason. Since Pakistan is considered a friendly nation by several Gulf countries, films portraying narratives against Pakistan are often viewed as objectionable in these regions.
Financial Impact of the Dhurandhar Ban
Due to the ban in Gulf countries, Dhurandhar reportedly suffered a box office loss of nearly ₹100 crore. Despite this setback, the film managed to earn over ₹800 crore worldwide. It also performed well in India and other overseas markets. The makers of Border 2 had made strong efforts to secure a Gulf release, but those attempts were ultimately unsuccessful.
Several Films Previously Banned in Gulf Countries
Before Dhurandhar, several films featuring anti-Pakistan or anti-terrorism themes were also banned in Gulf countries. These include Gadar 2, Fighter, Sky Force, The Diplomat, Article 370, Tiger 3, and The Kashmir Files. Despite not being released in the Gulf region, many of these films performed strongly at the Indian box office and in other international markets.
