according to the http://www.pinkvilla.com
Bollywood’s acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently shared some interesting insights about actor Vicky Kaushal in an exclusive interview with Komal Nahta. During this conversation, he discussed his unique filmmaking style and the logic behind making low-budget films. However, what caught everyone’s attention was his revelation about Vicky Kaushal’s early journey in the film industry.
Vicky Kaushal Worked as an Assistant Director on Gangs of Wasseypur
Anurag Kashyap revealed that before becoming an actor, Vicky Kaushal worked as an Assistant Director (AD) on his blockbuster film “Gangs of Wasseypur.” Even at that time, Vicky had already decided that he wanted to pursue a career in acting. Despite that, he sincerely fulfilled his responsibilities as an AD, closely observing and learning from many talented actors on set.
“Vicky Is Hardworking and Has Risen Through the Right Process”
Anurag further said, “Vicky is extremely hardworking and has grown through the right process. He didn’t become a star overnight. He started working as an assistant director on ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ because he wanted to understand how films are made. At that time, his father, Shyam Kaushal, was working as an action director on the same film, so I gave Vicky the opportunity easily.”
After completing his stint as an AD, Vicky joined theatre and performed for nearly two years. Later, he began giving auditions, testing himself as an actor and learning the nuances of performance. Anurag recalled, “When Vicky started, he didn’t have a grand launch. He began his acting journey with ‘Masaan.’ Later, he appeared in supporting roles in films like ‘Manmarziyaan’ and ‘Sanju,’ before eventually landing a lead role under a big filmmaker.”
“Vicky Made It on His Own”
Anurag emphasized, “No one launched Vicky, nor did he have any big support system. He achieved success purely through his talent and dedication.” Recently, Vicky delivered a major hit with ‘Chhaava.’ His upcoming films include Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’ and Amar Kaushik’s ‘Mahavatar,’ both of which are among the most anticipated projects.
