According to a special report by Pinkvilla, director Ayan Mukerji has stepped down from Dhoom 4. Due to certain creative differences, he has decided not to direct the much-anticipated film. Instead, he will now focus entirely on his next major project — Brahmastra Part 2.
Why Did Ayan Leave a Big Project Like “Dhoom 4”?
After the success of Brahmastra, Ayan was entrusted with the responsibility of directing Dhoom 4 by Yash Raj Films (YRF). However, following the underwhelming performance of War 2 at the box office, Ayan decided to step away from Dhoom 4.
War 2 was a high-budget action film that only managed to recover its production costs. It failed to meet the expectations of both the makers and the audience. As a result, the strong image of the YRF Spy Universe took a slight hit.
Ayan’s Stand on the “War 2” Outcome
It would be unfair to place the entire blame for War 2‘s underperformance on Ayan. The story and cast of the film were finalized before he was brought on board as the director. According to Ayan, his role was to translate the vision that was already written on paper onto the screen.
