Cannes Film Festival 2024 Begins: Several Indian Films to Be Showcased

The prestigious Cannes Film Festival kicked off on May 13 and will run until May 24 in the scenic South of France. This globally celebrated event, now in its 78th edition, is set to feature several Indian films, marking a strong presence for Indian cinema on the international stage.
Each year, Cannes attracts filmmakers, actors, and cinema lovers from around the world. This year too, the French coastal town becomes a hub of cinematic celebration. From India, several noteworthy films are set to be screened, including Homebound by Neeraj Ghaywan, Tanvi the Great, and the 1970 classic Aranyer Din Ratri by Satyajit Ray.
Bollywood will also be well represented, with several celebrities attending the event. Alia Bhatt will walk the red carpet as a global ambassador for L’Oréal Paris. Other stars such as Urvashi Rautela, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are also expected to make appearances during the festival.
One of the key highlights from India is Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor. The film will have its world premiere in the “Un Certain Regard” section. The lead actors, along with director Neeraj Ghaywan and producer Karan Johar, are expected to attend the screening and walk the red carpet.
