Case Filed Against ‘Border 2’ Over Use of Casteist Language

A case has been registered against the film Border 2 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, following allegations that a scene in the movie contains casteist and derogatory language.
Objection Raised by Bahujan Janata Dal
Despite performing well at the box office, Border 2 has landed in controversy. According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the complaint was filed by Atul Khodawal, National President of the Bahujan Janata Dal, who raised strong objections to the content of the film.
Controversial Scene Sparks Outrage
The film, which was released on January 24, includes a scene in the first half where a soldier is shown cleaning the shoes of a senior officer. During this scene, another soldier allegedly uses caste-indicative and insulting language. Objecting to this portrayal, Atul Khodawal lodged a complaint at a nearby police station.
Demand for Action Under SC/ST Act
In the complaint, Khodawal has demanded that the case be registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. He has also called for the immediate removal of the objectionable casteist terms from the film.
Strong Box Office Performance Despite Controversy
While legal action has been initiated against the film, Border 2 continues to receive a strong response from audiences. The movie is currently performing exceptionally well at the box office and has recorded impressive earnings since its release.
Impressive Weekend Collections
Border 2 collected ₹54 crore and ₹59 crore on consecutive weekend days. These figures indicate the film’s strong audience acceptance. Based on themes of patriotism and war, the film has resonated emotionally with viewers, resulting in consistent box office growth. Within just six days, the movie has reportedly earned ₹208 crore, surpassing the collections of Dhurandhar.
Star Cast and Storyline
Starring Sunny Deol in the lead role, Border 2 was released around Republic Day. The film also features Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in prominent roles. The storyline is set against the backdrop of the India–Pakistan war.
