The children’s film Chidiya is set to release in theatres on May 30, 2025. The film tells an inspiring story of three young boys, woven with a strong narrative, deep emotions, and a thoughtful reflection of society. The makers aim to capture the innocence and resilience of childhood through this heartfelt tale.

Amruta Subhash and Vinay Pathak play the roles of parents in Chidiya, while the three children are portrayed by Svar Kamble as Shanu and Ayush Pathak as Bua, among others. Set in a modest chawl, the story revolves around these three young friends.

Shanu, a boy from a financially struggling family, is forced to take up work at a young age. His father, who is trying to find work in the film industry, gets Shanu a small job as a spot boy on a film set. It is here that Shanu discovers the game of badminton, which becomes a central theme of the film.

The film beautifully portrays how the three friends, driven by their love for the game, go to great lengths to play badminton. Their small dreams and the struggles they face to achieve them are depicted with sincerity and emotional depth.

Directed by Mehran Amrohi, the film brings out the essence of life in economically weaker communities, while also showcasing the powerful performances of Amruta Subhash and Vinay Pathak as members of a struggling yet loving family.

Chidiya was the official Indian entry in the International Competition section of the prestigious 56th Zlín Film Festival in the Czech Republic, where it received widespread appreciation.
