During this event, famous writer Javed Akhtar and Aamir Khan appeared together for a special interview. During the conversation, Aamir answered many of Javed Akhtar’s questions. Aamir spoke about his unique approach to filmmaking and his distinct film style. When asked if there was any movie he regretted rejecting, Aamir shared some interesting insights.
Aamir mentioned a few films that he had turned down, which later became big hits. One of the notable films he mentioned was Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which turned out to be a massive success. Aamir revealed that he was initially offered the film. The screenplay writer, V. Vijayendra Prasad, had narrated the story of Bajrangi Bhaijaan to Aamir, and he really liked the script. However, Aamir realized that he wasn’t the right fit for the role of Bajrangi. He advised Vijayendra Prasad that Salman Khan would be a much better fit for the character, and suggested offering the script to him.
Later, Vijayendra Prasad took the script to Kabir Khan, who decided to cast Salman Khan for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Released in 2015, Bajrangi Bhaijaan became one of the biggest hits of Salman Khan’s career. The film earned 320 crores in domestic collections and around 900 crores worldwide. However, Aamir Khan had initially been offered the film.
Aamir also spoke about Darr, a film he was offered but turned down due to the negative role. He explained that Yash Chopra had approached him for the negative character in Darr, but Aamir felt it wasn’t something he could pull off. Shah Rukh Khan, who later took on the role, did an exceptional job in the film.
