according to thehttp://www.pinkvilla.com
According to early reports, a new film is being developed based on the Ajmal Kasab trial, the key legal case following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. This project is being produced by Maddock Films, known for its unique and content-driven cinema.
Rajkummar Rao to Portray Ujjwal Nikam
In this upcoming courtroom drama, actor Rajkummar Rao is set to portray Ujjwal Nikam, the sharp and determined public prosecutor who played a crucial role in securing the death sentence for Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist captured alive during the 26/11 attacks.
The film will explore the judicial side of the 26/11 tragedy, focusing on the trial and legal battle that followed the attacks. While many films have previously depicted the actual events and the on-ground terror during the attacks, this project will delve into the legal proceedings and courtroom drama that ensued afterward.
A Different Perspective on a Dark Chapter
The 26/11 attacks are regarded as one of the darkest days in Indian history. While previous films have focused on how the terrorists executed the attacks, Maddock’s film will present a fresh perspective by highlighting the legal fight and justice system’s role in handling such a high-profile case.
Originally, Aamir Khan was reportedly approached for the role of Ujjwal Nikam, but he declined the offer. The role then went to Rajkummar Rao, who will be playing a lawyer for the first time in his career.

Courtroom Drama in the Making
This will be Maddock Films’ first courtroom drama, and it aims to capture the emotional intensity and legal complexity of one of India’s most historic cases. The film is expected to bring to light lesser-known details of the trial that led to Kasab’s execution.
Previously, director Ram Gopal Varma had also made a film on the 26/11 attacks, focusing more on the crime and terror aspects. However, this upcoming film will shed light on what happened after the attacks, inside the courtroom.
