Karan Johar has filed a legal case against the makers of the movie Shadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar. The court has taken legal action against the film and has ordered a halt to its release. Karan Johar claimed that his name was used without his permission, and he filed a lawsuit against the director and the producers of the film.
In his lawsuit, Karan Johar stated that the makers of the film misused his privacy and branding rights. The Bombay Court ruled in favor of Karan Johar, noting that the film’s title directly mentions his name, which could create confusion among the audience.
The court further explained that the film’s title infringes on Karan Johar’s privacy. The production house, India Pride Advisory Private Limited, and producers Babloo Singh and Sanjay Singh had planned to release the film on June 14, 2024. However, following Karan Johar’s request, the release of the film has been halted.
Karan Johar first approached the High Court in June 2024. In his defense, he argued that even though the film’s name only partially includes his name, it directly refers to him, and this was done without his consent. He added that the makers were exploiting his name and fame, which is against his privacy rights. He also expressed concerns that the film’s story might involve defamation of his name.
Shadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar is a low-budget film directed by Babloo Singh. The cast includes Aman Singh, Deep Parth Akerkar, Monica Rathod, and Amit Lekhawani, who are newcomers to the industry.
