Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is all set to make its debut in the Punjabi film industry. Dharma Productions and Humble Motion Pictures, two major production companies, have shared information about their upcoming project. This Punjabi film will be a collaboration between these two companies, and it will mark Dharma Productions’ first foray into Punjabi cinema.
Karan Johar officially announced this collaboration, revealing that Dharma’s first Punjabi film will be in partnership with famous singer and actor Gippy Grewal. The film will be produced by both Dharma Productions and Maitri Movie Makers. In an official post related to this announcement, Karan Johar shared the following caption:
“It gives me so much pride to have Dharma Productions associating with legendary and accomplished Gippy Grewal to mark our first foray into Punjabi cinema. Akaal not only represents the culture and history of Punjab, but I am positive it will resonate on a deeper level with the entirety of India and beyond. That’s why we are proud to present Akaal as the first Punjabi film to be released in Hindi in cinemas worldwide… so that the magic of cinema continues to conquer beyond borders.
Here’s to the start of a great partnership, and I hope we continue to meet where cinema begins. Akaal will be releasing in cinemas worldwide on April 10, 2025, in both Punjabi and Hindi.”
While sharing the teaser of the film on social media, Karan also provided more details about the film. Akaal is a Punjabi cultural war film, which will be released in both Hindi and Punjabi. The film is scheduled to be released across India on April 10, 2025. Gippy Grewal has written and directed the film himself.
