Filming of Part Two in Full Swing
The shooting of the second part of Ramayan, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, is currently underway. Recently, a BTS photo of Kunal Kapoor emerged from the set, showing him in full motion-capture gear with facial markers, used for VFX processing. Actor Navneet Malik also appears in the same BTS photo, portraying another pivotal character.
Motion-Capture Technology and VFX Details
In the BTS photo, both actors are seen in motion-capture suits with facial markers required for VFX. Similar photos have previously emerged from Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar and Avengers. The BTS images highlight the grand scale and technical sophistication of the project. Earlier, actress Indira Krishnan revealed in a TV interview that the VFX technology used in Ramayan is the same cutting-edge technology employed in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
According to reports, the actors’ body measurements were captured using 86 cameras, and VFX mastermind Xavier Bernocorini, known for films like Avengers and Godzilla vs. Kong, is part of the film’s VFX team.

Ranbir Kapoor stars as Ram, alongside several veteran actors portraying key characters. Kunal Kapoor will play Indra, a significant role, while Navneet Malik is cast as Kumbhakarna. The first part of the film is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayan will be released in two parts. The first part is set for Diwali 2026, and the second part will follow in Diwali 2027.
