Kiran Rao, director of the acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies, has been selected as a jury member for the 27th edition of the Shanghai Film Festival.
This year’s festival will be held from June 13 to June 22, and the jury panel will feature filmmakers from China, Greece, and Argentina alongside Kiran Rao. This prestigious honor highlights her growing international recognition in the world of cinema.
Joining her on the jury are notable names such as Argentinian filmmaker Ivan Fund, Chinese actor and director Huang Bo, Greek producer Thanos Karathanos, and Chinese director Yang Lina.
Expressing her gratitude on being selected, Kiran Rao said:

Laapataa Ladies, produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Kiran Rao, featured no big stars but captured the hearts of audiences across India with its powerful storytelling and fresh content. The cast included Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan.
