In a conversation with Mid-Day, Rajat Agrawal—CEO and Director of Ultra Media—confirmed that a biopic on Guru Dutt is in development. He revealed that they are currently searching for a modern director who is not only talented but also a passionate fan of Guru Dutt. Discussions are underway with two directors at the moment.

When asked about casting, Agrawal stated that portraying Guru Dutt on screen would be a huge responsibility—and that Vicky Kaushal might just be the right fit. According to him, Vicky is a versatile actor capable of delivering the emotional depth required for such a role. He strongly hinted that Vicky Kaushal is their top choice to play Guru Dutt, although nothing has been officially finalized regarding the director.
