Reportedly, Akshay Kumar acquired the rights to produce Hera Pheri 3 under his own production banner. All three lead actors had signed contracts for the film. However, following Paresh Rawal’s unexpected withdrawal, Akshay’s production company sent him a legal notice, claiming that Paresh had received an advance payment of ₹11 lakhs upon signing. The company expressed that his sudden exit has caused them significant financial losses.
Priyadarshan Breaks His Silence
Director Priyadarshan, who was set to helm Hera Pheri 3, has expressed deep disappointment over the situation. In an interview with Mid-Day, he revealed that Akshay Kumar was emotionally affected by Paresh’s decision, saying, “There were tears in Akshay’s eyes. He asked me, ‘Why is Paresh doing this to us?’”
When asked if Paresh Rawal left the project due to financial reasons, Priyadarshan denied the claim, stating:
“We had all signed a contract, and a teaser was even shot featuring Paresh, Akshay, and Suniel for the IPL. Akshay had purchased the rights and we had all agreed to make Hera Pheri 3 together.”

Priyadarshan’s Personal Disappointment
Priyadarshan, who has shared a long-standing friendship with Paresh Rawal, said he was particularly upset that Paresh did not inform him personally before the news reached the media. He added:
“Just a week ago, Paresh and I had completed shooting for another film, Bhoot Bungalow. I find this very unprofessional. Honestly, I only agreed to direct Hera Pheri 3 because Akshay insisted. But now, with all this chaos, I feel like it’s time to consider retirement.”
