Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Raaj, directed by Vikram Bhatt, were released in the same year. However, Raaj garnered more love from the audience than Devdas. The songs of Raaj were hits, the film was made on a low budget, yet it became a massive success. Despite this, the film didn’t win a single award, as Dino expressed in his interview.
Speaking about the clash of these two big films from that year, Dino compares them and says that Raaj was made with a budget of just 5 crores, while Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas had a massive budget of 50 crores. Raaj earned 36 crores with its 5 crore budget, while Devdas made 100 crores with its 50 crore budget. By the budget comparison, Raaj outshone Devdas. Still, all the awards went to Devdas.
