Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie is already generating massive buzz even before its release. The film has attracted huge demand for its overseas and OTT rights, with some numbers now coming to light regarding the overseas deal. Coolie has reportedly fetched a record-breaking sum for its overseas rights, marking a significant achievement in the Tamil film industry.

Scheduled for release on August 14, 2025, Coolie has created considerable hype, and the deal for its overseas distribution reflects that. The film’s overseas rights have been sold for a staggering ₹68 crore, making it one of the most expensive Tamil overseas rights deals to date.

The overseas rights have been acquired by Ayngaran International for ₹68 crore, according to a report by Pinkvilla. This makes it the second-largest deal in the history of Tamil cinema. Sources indicate that if Coolie hadn’t clashed with War 2, the deal could have been even bigger. Interestingly, the overseas rights for Rajinikanth’s previous blockbusters like Jailer and 2.0 were sold for comparatively lower amounts.

Coolie is a big-budget film with a production cost of around ₹375 crore. The makers have already recovered approximately ₹230 crore through the sale of digital, satellite, and music rights.

The film features Rajinikanth in the lead, with Nagarjuna playing the antagonist. The movie also includes a special action cameo by Aamir Khan. Coolie promises to be a full-blown action entertainer and is set to hit theatres worldwide on August 14, 2025.
