Rajkummar Rao is set to appear in this upcoming film based on the life of former cricketer and Team India captain Sourav Ganguly. As this is a biopic, Rajkummar is taking the role seriously and has started learning Bengali to convincingly portray Ganguly on screen.
The project was officially announced recently, and Rajkummar Rao has been finalized to play the lead. Having previously worked in the sports drama Mr. & Mrs. Mahi and in the biopic of Srikanth Bolla, this will be his second biopic and another entry into the sports genre. Rajkummar is committed to doing full justice to this challenging role.
Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the film will explore Sourav Ganguly’s cricketing journey — from his school days to becoming the captain of the Indian national team. As a native of West Bengal, the film will also highlight Kolkata and its rich sports culture. Key milestones from Ganguly’s life will be depicted in the movie.
