according to the  http://www.pinkvilla.com

Renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently spoke about working with superstar Shah Rukh Khan and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. Although he has collaborated with Amitabh Bachchan on several films, he has never made a film with Shah Rukh Khan. In a candid revelation, he explained the reason behind it.

Ram Gopal Varma’s Filmmaking Approach and Casting Philosophy

Ram Gopal Varma is known for his unique and realistic filmmaking style. According to him, he casts actors strictly based on the demands of the character, not their star value. He believes that authentic acting and the ability to merge into a role are far more important than stardom.

He emphasizes that an actor—be it a newcomer or a superstar—must serve the emotional depth and intent of the character perfectly.

Ram Gopal Varma and Amitabh Bachchan have worked together on multiple films, including all three films of the Sarkar franchise, as well as Nishabd, Aag, Rann, Darna Zaroori Hai, and others.

Speaking about Amitabh, RGV said:

“Amitabh’s face does not display too many expressions; he is not very expressive. But the power in his eyes and the modulation in his voice make his performances extraordinary.”

It is this quality that inspired RGV to cast him repeatedly in several of his films.

Why a Film with Shah Rukh Khan Never Happened

Discussing Shah Rukh Khan, RGV shared:

“Shah Rukh has his own style—his charm, his unique energy. But I grew up watching films like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Deewar’, and ‘Trishul’. That’s why I personally prefer Amitabh Bachchan’s style of acting. Shah Rukh’s romantic films are not my type.”

He further added: “The kind of films Shah Rukh’s fans expect from him—I don’t think I can make such films. I don’t feel I’m worthy of directing him.”

A Missed Opportunity — Shah Rukh Was Considered for ‘Company’

Although they have never worked together, there was a time when Shah Rukh Khan was briefly considered for a role in RGV’s acclaimed film Company.

Shah Rukh was initially thought of for the role of Malik, a calm and intense underworld leader. But RGV later realized: “Malik required someone with a very still, serious face. Shah Rukh, on the other hand, has a high-energy persona. The role demanded controlled expressions, which didn’t fit his natural style.”

As a result, the role eventually went to Ajay Devgn, who portrayed Malik to perfection.
