The Story of Umrao Jaan

The film narrates the poignant tale of a young girl from Faizabad who is kidnapped and sold to a brothel in Lucknow. There, she receives rigorous training in poetry, music, and dance, eventually becoming a celebrated courtesan. Her path crosses with Nawab Sultan, and they fall in love. However, societal norms and political turmoil cause heartbreak and separation. Umrao Jaan’s life becomes a poetic yet painful journey filled with sorrow, love, and dignity.
