The much-anticipated film Battle of Galwan, starring Salman Khan, has officially gone on floors. Several behind-the-scenes photos from the set have surfaced online, indicating that filming has begun on a large scale with the full production crew present.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film’s shooting has kicked off in Ladakh. With this update, rumors about the film being shelved have now been put to rest. Set photos and videos are currently making waves across social media.
Muhurat Shot Marks Official Start
Principal photography officially began on August 20. A video from the film set shows the full team present during a ceremonial puja, followed by the muhurat shot. Salman Khan’s On-Set Look Goes Viral
Among the most talked-about photos is one showing Salman Khan himself, dressed in jeans and a jacket, seemingly inspecting the camera angles and lighting on set. Several crew members and cameramen can also be seen around him.
Director Apoorva Lakhia shared a video story on his Instagram, offering a glimpse of the shoot location. One particularly striking prop caught attention—a custom-made weapon resembling a barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat. This prop is reportedly used in a scene where Indian soldiers fight against Chinese forces.
Schedule Change Before Shooting
Initially, the film’s shoot was scheduled to begin in Mumbai. However, Salman Khan canceled the Mumbai schedule and opted to start shooting directly in Ladakh. He has undergone a significant physical transformation for the role, having lost weight and gotten into peak shape. Real locations in Ladakh will be used for many of the film’s key scenes.
Salman Khan will portray Indian Army officer Colonel Bikkimalla Santosh Babu, who was martyred during the Galwan Valley clash.

Star Cast and Release Update
Joining Salman Khan in the cast are Chitrangada Singh, Ankur Bhatia, Jain Shroff, Harshal Shah, and Vipin Bhardwaj in prominent roles. The official release date of Battle of Galwan has not yet been announced.
