Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently expressed his strong desire to work with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in a special interview. A self-proclaimed fan of SRK, Vanga shared that collaborating with Shah Rukh on a film has been a long-standing dream of his.
Known for Dark and Intense Characters
Vanga is best known for his dark, emotionally intense storytelling. His protagonists are often portrayed in unconventional and psychologically layered roles. For instance, in ‘Kabir Singh’, Shahid Kapoor played a short-tempered doctor, while in ‘Animal’, Ranbir Kapoor portrayed a violent and complex son of a powerful businessman.
Vanga brought out new shades in both actors, presenting them in bold, gritty avatars. Soon, Prabhas will also be seen in a similar role in Vanga’s upcoming film ‘Spirit’, where he plays a fierce police officer. Amidst this, speculations are rising about a potential collaboration between Vanga and Shah Rukh Khan.
Viral Video Rekindles Buzz
An old interview video of Sandeep Reddy Vanga has recently gone viral on social media, in which he speaks passionately about Shah Rukh Khan. When asked whether he plans to work with a ‘Khan’ after collaborating with the Kapoor stars, he responded:
“Yes, I am a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan. I’ve watched both ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’. While shooting in Delhi, our whole team went to watch ‘Pathaan’ in theatres. If I ever get the opportunity to work with him, I would definitely take it.”
First Meeting with SRK & A Dream for a ‘Pushpa’-Style Film
This isn’t the first time Vanga has expressed interest in working with SRK. In an earlier interview with Siddharth Kannan, he had also placed Shah Rukh at the top of his wish list of actors to collaborate with.
In that same interview, Vanga shared details of his first meeting with Shah Rukh, which happened during IIFA 2024, where SRK was hosting the event. According to Vanga, SRK was extremely warm, and even mentioned wanting to do a film like ‘Pushpa’ with him.
Wants the Return of 90s “Dark” Shah Rukh
When asked what one question he would ask Shah Rukh if given the chance, Vanga replied: “I would ask him – why don’t you bring back the 90s version of yourself?” He elaborated that in the 1990s, Shah Rukh took on bold and dark roles in films like ‘Baazigar’, ‘Darr’, and ‘Anjaam’, which made a lasting impact on audiences. Vanga expressed his hope to see SRK revisit such intense characters again.

Vanga Busy with ‘Spirit’, SRK Shooting for ‘King’
