Darsheel Safary, who made his acting debut as a child in Aamir Khan’s iconic film Taare Zameen Par, has recently opened up about his journey, his bond with Aamir Khan, and why he hasn’t worked with him again.
After winning hearts in Taare Zameen Par, Darsheel largely disappeared from the acting scene. In a recent interview, he shared that while people often suggest he should reach out to Aamir Khan for work, he feels too shy to do so.
“People are concerned that I haven’t asked Aamir sir for work, but I honestly feel very shy about it,” said Darsheel. “He’s not my brother that I can just call and say, ‘Please give me a good script.’ I do wish him well from time to time—recently I sent him a birthday message. But that’s just the kind of person I am.”
Set to Return to Acting Soon
Darsheel recently attended the premiere of Sitaare Zameen Par and later spoke to the media about his career plans. He said:
“Whatever work I’ve gotten post-COVID has been purely on my merit—not through contacts or favoritism. Auditions and screen tests have helped me understand whether I’m right for a role, and it also gives clarity to the directors and producers.”
He also addressed the fact that he is not part of the sequel, Sitaare Zameen Par, saying:
“Being possessive is natural. Even I felt like I should’ve been part of Sitaare Zameen Par. But when you look at a film and realize you don’t fit into the story, you understand that it’s okay not to be a part of it.”
