Mahavatar Narsimha – A Surprise Animated Hit

The animated film Mahavatar Narsimha, directed by renowned South Indian filmmaker Ashwin Kumar, has taken the Indian box office by storm. Despite being a fully animated project, the film has successfully completed 32 days in theatres and emerged as the third highest-grossing Indian film of the year, following Chhava and Saiyara.

With a remarkable collection of ₹234 crore across India, Mahavatar Narsimha has proven that animated mythological storytelling has a solid market among both young and adult audiences. The film features stunning VFX and animation, which played a major role in its success.

Ashwin Kumar Wants to Cast Hrithik Roshan in a Mythological Role

In a recent exclusive interview with India Today, Ashwin Kumar revealed that he is currently working on two upcoming mythological films — Ajamila and Ardhanarishwar. Both films will be based on Indian Puranic stories.

Ardhanarishwar will portray the divine form of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati combined into one — a concept deeply revered by many Hindu devotees. Ashwin Kumar expressed his desire to bring this divine narrative to the big screen with grandeur.

Hrithik Roshan as Nataraja?

When asked who he would cast as Lord Shiva in the Ardhanarishwar film, Kumar enthusiastically named Hrithik Roshan. He stated:

Hrithik’s physique and dance movements resemble that of a celestial being — like a Gandharva. Looking at the kind of films he’s done, I believe he would perfectly suit a mythological role. I am keen to cast him as Nataraja, the form of Shiva who creates and destroys through his cosmic dance.

This statement has sparked excitement among Hrithik Roshan fans, as it hints at the actor’s potential debut in the mythological genre. While Hrithik has previously acted in historical films like Jodhaa Akbar and Mohenjo Daro, a mythological character would mark new territory in his career.

A New Direction for Hrithik Roshan?

Currently, Hrithik Roshan doesn’t have many announced projects. His recent release War 2 failed to meet box office expectations. If this collaboration with Ashwin Kumar materializes, it could offer audiences a refreshing and spiritually rich cinematic experience.

The Rise of Indian Mythological Animation

Indian audiences have shown increasing interest in mythological content. Riding on this wave, Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narsimha has become a major hit.

Hambla Films, the production house behind the film, has announced a line-up of animated mythological films under the Mahavatar series. These films will reimagine major Indian deities and legends using cutting-edge animation.
