Although Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaar Ji 3 was not released in India, the film has seen tremendous success overseas, especially in Pakistan, where it has achieved an impressive box office collection and broken records.

Controversy Surrounding the Film

Sardaar Ji 3 became a controversial release due to its casting choices. The presence of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir alongside Diljit Dosanjh drew backlash from sections of the Indian audience. Many criticized both the filmmakers and Diljit, demanding Hania be removed from the film, especially amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.

Despite the criticism, the makers went ahead with the film as it had already completed production. In consideration of public sentiment, the team chose not to release the film in India, opting instead for an overseas-only release.

Box Office Performance

The film was released globally on June 27, and within days, it began performing exceptionally well in international markets. It has received strong support from Indian diaspora audiences as well as international viewers, particularly in Pakistan, where the response has been phenomenal—largely due to Hania Aamir’s popularity.

According to Sacnilk and other trade sources, Sardaar Ji 3 has grossed over $5 million (approximately ₹42.83 crore) worldwide within just 10 days of its release. In two weeks, the film’s total global collection reportedly reached ₹52 crore, far surpassing its budget of ₹35 crore.

Record-Breaking Numbers in Pakistan

In Pakistan alone, the film has earned around PKR 40.5 crore, making it the highest-grossing Indian film ever released in the country. Previously, Bollywood films like Sanju and Sultan had achieved notable collections in Pakistan, but Sardaar Ji 3 has now overtaken them.

Additionally, Sardaar Ji 3 has become the third highest-grossing Punjabi film in overseas markets. Its biggest earnings have come from North America, solidifying Diljit Dosanjh’s status as a global Punjabi cinema icon.
