Recently, Aamir Khan opened up about his professional relationship and film industry competition with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan during a podcast interview with Raj Shamani. He shared his thoughts on the healthy competition among the three. Let’s see what Aamir had to say.
Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan are three of Bollywood’s biggest superstars. Each of them has delivered blockbuster films over the years. Interestingly, all three began their careers around the same time and are of the same age. Because of this, audiences have always viewed them in a comparative light. Their films, as well as their fan followings, have often been discussed and debated together. As a result, the three stars are frequently asked about the competition among them. Aamir responded to one such question on Raj Shamani’s podcast.
In the podcast, Aamir said, “I’ve never considered the competition between me and the other two Khans as actual rivalry. Of course, there was some form of competition, perhaps subconsciously, but I always saw it as healthy competition.” He went on to say, “There was a time, probably during the 1990s, when we were all striving for success. Everyone wanted more success and more appreciation from the audience.”
He added, “That kind of competition is good. But I’ve never focused on negativity. From my perspective, it’s always been healthy. Whenever they made a great film, it inspired me to do better too. I’ve always been inspired by their work, but I’ve never been unhappy about their success.”

Talking specifically about Shah Rukh and Salman, Aamir shared, “It’s been 35 years of us being in the industry together. To be honest, I’ve never competed with anyone. My only competition has always been with myself. I never felt the urge to make a big romantic film like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.’ I love that film, and I truly think Shah Rukh gave a brilliant performance in it.”
As for Aamir’s upcoming film, he is set to appear in “Sitare Zameen Par,” which is scheduled to release in June. Aamir himself has produced the film. It features several actors with special needs, and actress Genelia Deshmukh will be seen alongside Aamir.
