Very few people know that Mimoh Chakraborty is the son of legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty. Despite being the son of such a celebrated star and trying his luck in acting, Simone had to face immense struggles in the film industry. Even with the “star kid” label, he didn’t have an easy entry into Bollywood. But now, after a long break, Simone is set to make his return in Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming web series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter.

Let’s take a closer look at Simone Chakraborty’s journey and what he has shared about his struggle.

A Star Kid With an Unseen Struggle

Despite being the son of a Bollywood legend, Simone had to deal with significant challenges in his career. He has often spoken about being called for shoots, only to be dropped at the last minute by directors. The fame of his father did not shield him from the harsh realities of the industry.

Bollywood Debut with Jimmy

In a podcast interview with Digital Commentary, Simone opened up candidly about his struggle-filled journey. Like many star kids, Simone was launched in Bollywood with the film Jimmy. However, the film turned out to be a box office disaster. Recalling an early experience, Simone shared that the trailer of Jimmy was released during the screening of Salman Khan’s Partner. When the trailer played, the audience clapped and cheered, which made Simone believe he had arrived as a star. But once the film hit the theatres and flopped, the reality set in—people stopped taking his calls and distanced themselves from him.

The Downfall After Jimmy

After the failure of Jimmy, Mimoh Chakraborty career took a downturn. He revealed that he gave numerous auditions, changed his lifestyle, got new photoshoots done, and met several directors hoping for a break. One such meeting was with Vikram Bhatt, which eventually led to Haunted 3D — a horror film that gave him some recognition.

First Hit with Haunted 3D

Haunted, directed by Vikram Bhatt, was Simone’s first hit film. Its horror theme and impressive music connected well with the audience. However, even after the success of Haunted, Mimoh  didn’t receive many offers. Reflecting on this, he said, “I thought Haunted would change everything, but nothing really happened. I link it all to destiny.”

Making a Comeback with Khakee: The Bengal Chapter

Even as the son of a superstar like Mithun Chakraborty, Simone faced trolling and constant criticism. Despite the negativity, he never stopped auditioning and continued putting in the hard work. His persistence has now paid off—he has bagged a role in Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. This marks a major comeback for Simone as he becomes part of a highly anticipated series.
