During the launch event of Kesari Chapter 2, R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday joined Akshay Kumar in making their presence felt. At the event, R. Madhavan shared his thoughts on playing the negative role of a lawyer. Also present were Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, producer Karan Johar, and the film’s director, Karan Singh Tyagi.

In Kesari Chapter 2, R. Madhavan plays the role of a lawyer who represented the British India against C. Shankaran in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre case. Madhavan portrays the character of Neville McKinley, a British lawyer, who faces off against Akshay Kumar’s character in the film. When asked about his negative role, Madhavan expressed his thoughts.

“When I first heard the story of the film, I loved it. Anyone would want to be part of such a movie. I immediately agreed to be part of it. When I heard the story, I didn’t think about whether the role was positive or negative. I just wanted to do the role. So, I played this negative role to the best of my ability. I’ve portrayed the character in such a way that the audience should hate me,” said Madhavan.

R. Madhavan had previously been praised for his negative role in the film Shaitan, and due to that performance, he was once again approached to play a negative character in Kesari Chapter 2. In this film, Ananya Panday also plays a lawyer’s role. The movie is set around a courtroom drama based on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, following the case filed by Indian lawyer C. Shankaran against the British.
