In a moment of pride for Indian cinema, three Indian films have been officially selected for the prestigious Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF). The selected films are ‘Ghamasaan’, ‘Saali Mohabbat’, and ‘Bun Tikki’—each set to showcase the depth and creativity of Indian storytelling on an international platform.


CSAFF – A Premier Platform for South Asian Cinema

Held annually in Chicago, the Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF) is one of the most respected events dedicated to South Asian and diaspora cinema. Organized by the non-profit CSAFF Inc., the festival presents a diverse array of artistic, social, and thought-provoking films.
This year’s edition will run from September 18 to 21, 2025.

Meet the Three Indian Films Making Waves at CSAFF 2025

1. Ghamasaan

  • Director: Tigmanshu Dhulia
  • Cast: Pratik Gandhi, Arshad Warsi, Ishita Dutta

Ghamasaan’ is an action drama based on a true story. The film follows a classic cat-and-mouse chase between a fearless, incorruptible IPS officer Aditya (played by Pratik Gandhi) and a notorious dacoit Maharaj (played by Arshad Warsi). It explores themes of brotherhood, rivalry, and corruption set against a rugged, desolate backdrop.

The film premiered at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival in October 2024, and was also screened at the Cinevesture International Film Festival in March 2025. It is now set to be the Centerpiece Film at CSAFF 2025. The official theatrical release date is yet to be announced.

2. Saali Mohabbat

  • Director: Tisca Chopra (Directorial Debut)
  • Produced by: Stage 5 Productions (Manish Malhotra’s banner) and Jio Studios

Saali Mohabbat’ is a 2024 drama that marks the directorial debut of actress Tisca Chopra. The film revolves around a housewife caught in a web of infidelity, betrayal, and murder. With its intense storyline and emotional depth, the film offers a gripping cinematic experience.

3. Bun Tikki

  • Director: Faraz Arif Ansari
  • Cast: Shabana Azmi, Zeenat Aman, Abhay Deol, Nushrratt Bharuccha

Set in the scenic town of Nainital, ‘Bun Tikki’ is a family-centric emotional drama. The story follows a single father and his 7-year-old son Shanu, who is grappling with questions of personal identity. The film beautifully highlights themes of love, acceptance, and diversity.

‘Bun Tikki’ had its world premiere on January 5, 2025, at the 36th Palm Springs International Film Festival.
