Kajal Aggarwal has officially joined Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious project Ramayana, taking on the role of Mandodari, the wife of the demon king Ravana. The film, already featuring a star-studded cast, has now added another big name with Kajal’s inclusion.

The film, which is being made in two parts, will see South superstar Yash portraying the role of Ravana. Kajal Aggarwal will play his wife, Mandodari. Earlier, there were reports that Sakshi Tanwar had been approached for the role. However, the makers have now confirmed that Kajal was always their first choice, and she has already begun shooting her portions.

Another Star Joins the Epic Cast

Ramayana boasts of a powerful lineup of actors. Ranbir Kapoor is playing Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi will be seen as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol will portray Hanuman. With Kajal Aggarwal joining the cast as Mandodari, the ensemble gets even stronger.

A Blend of Mythology and Modern Technology

This mega project aims to bring the ancient epic to life with a modern cinematic approach. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana will be released in two parts — the first during Diwali 2026 and the second in Diwali 2027. The film will cover several lesser-known events from the Ramayana and will be enhanced with cutting-edge VFX and technology. The makers have assured that while using modern tools, they will remain faithful to the original story and respect its essence.

Speaking about the film’s shoot, it is currently underway. Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi have completed their portions for the first part. The first installment of the film will not showcase the conflict between Ram and Ravan. Instead, the epic Ram-Ravan battle will be featured in the second part of the movie.

Yash, who joined the project later, will reportedly film a few solo scenes for the first part, while his major role will unfold in the second part.
