Telugu superstar Nani is all set to return with the third installment of his popular Hit franchise. Hit 3 will release on May 1, not only in Telugu but also as a pan-India release. On this special occasion, Nani opened up about his ambitious project in an exclusive interview with film critic Komal Nahta. Here’s what he had to say.
Following the massive success of the first two films, Nani is bringing back the intense cop drama with Hit 3. He expressed excitement about how the audience will receive this third chapter and whether it will live up to expectations. As the producer of the franchise, Nani has a personal connection to the police drama genre, and it’s this passion that led him to continue investing in stories he believes in.
Speaking about his role as a producer, Nani shared his thoughts on why actors sometimes take up production roles. “Sometimes, producers come to actors with a subject, but it may not connect with the actor. Other times, actors themselves have a story they truly believe in. When that happens, actors are often willing to back it financially too. Being both an actor and a producer gives me the creative freedom to shape the film the way I envision it,” he explained.
Nani also talked about working with new directors. Known for giving opportunities to fresh talent, he believes that many of the most unique and successful films are made by debutant directors. “Take Arjun Reddy, for example — it was a debut project that brought something new to the table. New directors bring a different energy and passion, and their ideas are often bold and fresh. That’s what makes the project exciting,” he said.

He also revealed his upcoming collaboration with megastar Chiranjeevi. After his film Paradise, Nani will be teaming up with Chiranjeevi on a special project. “I’ve always been a huge fan of Chiranjeevi sir. Getting to work with him is a dream come true. I’ll also be producing that film, which makes it even more special for me,” Nani shared.
