The popular song ‘Raanjhana’ from the OTT crime thriller Do Patti has recently landed in controversy. The track is now facing plagiarism allegations, raised by an international music producer, KMKZ (Kamikazee). Here’s a complete breakdown of the issue.

Popularity of ‘Raanjhana’

Released in 2024 on an OTT platform, Do Patti featured the song ‘Raanjhana’, which went viral across social media. The track garnered over 335 million views on YouTube, and millions more streams on Spotify and other platforms. However, despite its popularity, the song is now at the center of a copyright controversy.

KMKZ Alleges T-Series Used His Piano Beats Without Credit

KMKZ, an American music producer, accused T-Series and composers Sachet–Parampara of using his piano beats in the song Raanjhana without his permission, credit, or payment.

On August 26, KMKZ shared a video on his Instagram account, highlighting a list of top-trending songs between April 11 and 17 — with Raanjhana among them. He claimed that the piano melody used in the song was originally from a beat he had created and shared online two years ago.

KMKZ’s Statement

“I’m a music producer and I sell beats online. I had uploaded a piano beat a couple of years ago. Recently, someone messaged me saying they heard a song that sounded familiar — the melody reminded them of my beat. When I listened to it, I realized it was indeed mine, but I never received any credit or compensation.”

He further added that Raanjhana had over 290 million streams on Spotify alone. After realizing this, he emailed both T-Series and the artists, but claims no one responded.

Who Is KMKZ?

KMKZ (pronounced Kamikazee) is an American independent music producer known for creating and selling digital beats online. It’s important not to confuse him with Kamikazee, the Filipino rock band sometimes stylized as KMKZ. In this case, the KMKZ in question is the individual producer behind the plagiarism allegations.
