Following the massive success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol signed on for Lahore 1947, a patriotic drama based on the India-Pakistan partition, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan. The film had already entered the shooting stage when Sunny also gave the green light to Border 2, a film based on the 1971 India-Pakistan war, directed by Kesari fame Anurag Singh. Border 2 features Sunny Deol in his iconic army avatar alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.
Due to the recent geopolitical tension following India’s air strikes during the “Operation Sindhura” conflict, the makers have decided to release Border 2 ahead of Lahore 1947 to align with the current patriotic sentiment of the audience. As a result, Border 2 will complete filming first, and then Lahore 1947 will resume production.
