Actress Zareen Khan, known for her bold roles in films like Hate Story 2 and Aksar 2, had a rather challenging start in Bollywood. From the very beginning of her career, she was compared to Katrina Kaif, with many people on social media calling her “Katrina’s copy.”

In a recent Hindi podcast interview, Zareen opened up about how she dealt with these comparisons and the struggles she faced early in her career.

A Huge Fan of Katrina Kaif

Zareen Khan began by admitting that she is a huge fan of Katrina Kaif. “I have admired Katrina since I was young. Back then, I even took her autograph once, and I still have a video of that moment saved with me,” she shared. “When I became an actress, I proudly posted that video on social media.”

How the “She Looks Like Katrina” Rumour Spread

Zareen Khan revealed that the comparisons started during the time her debut film Veer, opposite Salman Khan, was being made. She said, “This narrative was started by the media. While the film was in production, the makers had kept me away from the press, as they wanted the audience to see my face directly on the big screen.”

“But someone from the media somehow got hold of my photo — either by sneaking a picture or pulling one from Facebook — and published it with the headline that I look like Katrina Kaif. That rumor quickly caught fire among the audience.”

“At First It Felt Like a Compliment, But Then It Hurt”

Zareen Khan admitted, “Initially, I felt happy when people said I looked like Katrina — she is stunning, and being compared to her felt like praise.”

“But later I realized that it wasn’t really a compliment. It was a way to undermine me by placing me below her.”

“Comparisons with Current Actresses Can Harm Your Career”

Zareen Khan made an important point: “If you’re being compared to a past actress, it doesn’t affect you much. But if the comparison is with someone who is currently active in the industry, it can significantly impact your career graph.”
